The Fringe

I've been derelict in posting lately because I've been on a short holiday in Edinburgh checking out the Fringe Festival. Or Festival Fringe. Here are my traveling companions:

We covered many miles on foot and saw two good comedy shows: a spy-thriller-spoofy thing called Zimbani and Dan Antopolski, a stand up comedian. Both were excellent.

Food. If you're in Edinburgh and want good food cheap, go to the Mosque Kitchen. It's actually a mosque kitchen. You go to the kitchen entrance and order from an array of hot dishes: dal, chicken curry, kofta kebab, mixed vegetables, tandoori chicken, naan, etc., and then you sit at tables in a little covered outdoor area. I tried a little of everything and it was all spicy and tasty. Veg-friendly, too. And I think it would be difficult to spend more than 5GBP.

I also recommend the hot dogs at the Pleasance Courtyard.

The weather was like this: rain, sun, rain, rain, sun, sun, hot sun, rain, rain, rain, rain, cold, sun, rain. About every 20 minutes or so. Good to bring layers and a change of footwear if possible.

And thanks to Oregonian Tamara, who pointed us in the right direction.
