Women speak out at an anti-Palin rally in Anchorage:
And Andrew Sullivan and Naomi Klein make the point a little more forcefully here:
Sarah Palin may be a lovely person. But she clearly doesn't belong in the White House. I'll be frank: "average hockey mom" is not a selling point for me. W tried (and apparently succeeded) to sell us that "average Joe" line too, and look how well that worked out. I don't want an average, "just like you and me" president. I want someone who's educated, intelligent, thoughtful, and capable of some deep thinking about foreign policy, climate change, and healthcare. I want someone who can speak substantively and fluently and without reverting to boilerplate when asked a question. I want someone who doesn't see changing one's views in light of new information as a weakness. If that makes me an elitist, then I'll have to take the label.
